The job of a certified roofer is to build or fix roofs of buildings. The job is considered to be one of the highest risk jobs since roofers work at heights and in places where balance is poor.

The duties and responsibilities of a certified roofer are:

  • Building roofs for new building based on the architect’s plan
  • Preparing monetary estimates of materials required based on the type and quantity of materials
  • Fixing roofs that are in existence
  • Providing protective covering over roofs to save them from damage due to climatic factors
  • Will have to work with shingles, tar, asphalt and other such materials
  • Ensuring that the roof is completed sealed and does not cause problems such as leaks
  • Ensuring safety of the roof by covering open nails and secure fasteners
  • Planning the roofing work in keeping with the requirements of the building
  • Installing waterproofing to prevent leakage in case roof gardens are to be provided
  • Ensuring that the roof is aesthetically appealing by providing proper finishes
  • Ensuring that the roof is functional by providing water draining and other such facilities
  • May have to train junior roofers
  • Keeping abreast with latest developments in roofing
