About JobDescription.org

JobDescription.org is a free, ad-supported reference for job seekers, hiring managers, and HR teams. We publish detailed, regularly-refreshed job descriptions across 19 industries — duties, qualifications, salary range estimates, career outlook, and how AI is reshaping each role.

What we cover

Every job description on the site follows the same structure: a definition-style summary, a Quick Facts panel (typical education, experience, certifications, top employer types, growth outlook, and AI impact), 10 concrete duties, 5 FAQs, four body sections (Overview, Qualifications, Career Outlook, and a Sample Cover Letter), and a salary range with low / median / high breakdowns plus context on what shifts pay.

Coverage spans 5,000+ roles across 19 industries. You can browse all industries here.

Our methodology

We use an AI-assisted research-and-writing pipeline with human editorial oversight. The short version:

We chose this approach because it lets us cover the long tail of roles with consistent depth and refresh content faster than a human-only editorial team could.

Where the salary numbers come from

Salary ranges (low, median, high) are estimates anchored to publicly available U.S. labor-market data, primarily the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, with adjustments from current industry compensation sources at the time each page was published. Numbers represent broad U.S. market expectations for the relevant period — they are directional and informational, not an offer or a guarantee. Real compensation varies materially by city, sector, employer size, experience, and individual negotiation.

A note on point-in-time data

Everything on this site — salary ranges, career outlook, AI impact, certifications, and the surrounding commentary — reflects the best information we had available when each page was published or last refreshed. Job markets, regulations, salary norms, certification programs, and AI capabilities all evolve. We refresh pages regularly, but at any given moment some pages will be more current than others. Treat the content as directional and informational. Cross-reference primary sources (BLS, the relevant professional association, recent industry reporting) before making important career, hiring, or compensation decisions.

Our quality standards

Why AI-assisted (and what that means for trust)

We're transparent about using AI assistance because readers should be able to evaluate the content with that context. The trade-off: AI lets us cover the full taxonomy of modern roles with consistent structure and update quickly as roles evolve, but AI-generated text can contain factual errors, outdated information, or omissions. Our quality controls are designed to catch the obvious failures, but no automated process is perfect. We cross-reference primary sources for important claims, and we encourage readers to do the same.

If you find an inaccuracy, please tell us. We're built to correct things fast.
